It's feast or famine for the Canucks on their wacky schedule. After playing just 1 game in 8 days the Canucks will now play 13 games over the next 23 days. The Vancouver Canucks are back on the road and once again in the province of Alberta after a short one game stint at home against the Minnesota Wild. This time, however, the Canucks are in the provincial city of Edmonton to take on the Oilers for the first time this year. Vancouver has yet to win a game on the road in this young season but will look to change things around on Monday.

The Canucks are coming off a nail biting 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild Saturday night. It was a game that was dominated by the Canucks in almost every facet except on the scoreboard. The Canucks fired over twice as many shots as the Wild, 39-18. The speedy second line of Grabner, Kesler and Raymond alone had 17 shots on net.

The Edmonton Oilers last played on Friday against the Minnesota Wild as well and that game was also one sided, but the score showed it as well. Edmonton was led by Dustin Penner and former Vancouver Giant, Gilbert Brule, who both scored 2 goals each. Mike Comrie chipped in another as the Oilers won 5-2.

This will be the first meeting between these two teams this season. The Canucks and Oilers split their season series last year as the Canucks went 3-3-0 against the Oilers. The Canucks currently sit 4th in the Northwest division at 3-4-0 while the Oilers are ranked 3rd at 4-2-1.

The puck drops at 6:00PM Pacific. Watch the game on Sportsnet Pacific with commentary by John Shorthouse, John Garrett and Dan Murphy. Joey Kenward has the radio call on TEAM1040 with Tom Larscheid.

Roster Notes

  • Canucks: Canucks have 5 players with 4 game point streaks (H. Sedin, Kesler, Ehrhoff, Bernier, Samuelsson)
  • Oilers: Dustin Penner has 6 points in 3 games and Gilbert Brule has 5 in the same span.
