Did I say six? I meant seven. Canucks beat Flames 3-1.
The Canucks didn't play their best Wednesday night, that much is certain.
However, the Flames are the Flames, and that enabled the Hometown Canucks to escape with a 3-1 victory.
Roberto Luongo was superb, stopping 43 of 44 shots, and missing out on a shut out by ten seconds.
The Canucks won their seventh straight and also tied a franchise record of best win streak. (No losses in regulation time)
Daniel Sedin scored his 22nd, while Ryan Kesler, who has been on a torrid pace, potted his 20th to open the scoring.
Kevin Bieksa; once thought of as nothing more than trade bait scored his fifth of the season and also had an assist. Bieksa has been solid as a rock lately, and now his offense seems to be coming; he has 8 points, including three goals in his last ten games.
After the Canucks made it 3-0, despite being outshot heavily, they simply laid back and let Luongo make save after miraculous save. It was a vintage preformance by Luongo, and proof that if you rest the guy, he may actually make a few saves now and then.
The Flames, though shot happy, couldn't capitalize on any chances. Olli Jokinen in particular had an awful game, missing wide open scoring chances, and he even flubbed a scoring chance when he passed the puck nowhere near the intended target.
The Canucks play Friday against the Edmonton Oilers, in another Alberta Clash. Puck drop at 7 pt.
