IceCaps drop two games to Marlies
The St.John's IceCaps managed a point on the weekend, coming from a hard-fought Friday 3-2 OT loss to the Marlies. The rest of the weekend was downhill, as the IceCaps lost 4-2 on Saturday night.
Friday night, Dekanich turned away 40 shots in a stellar effort, as the IceCaps were outshot 43-25.
Head coach Keith McCambridge said the IceCaps were outplayed by a better team Friday.
"We were unable to get out of our own zone," McCambridge said. "When you spend a minute or a minute-fifteen in your zone, and you finally get possession to break it out, chances are you're chipping it to the goal line and you've got to change... We lost to a good team."
In net, the IceCaps are getting steady goaltending from Mark Dekanich and Eddie Pasquale -- a situation they haven't had for any significant amount of time this year.
The only bright spot for the IceCaps on the weekend is the continued scoring from the O'Dell-Mouillierat line, as Josh Lunden has clicked in well with the two.
O'Dell and Mouillierat each had a goal and an assist on Friday. Saturday, O'Dell chipped in two goals and Mouillierat added an assist.
With his weekend performance, Eric O'Dell moves into 20th spot in the league leaders for points, now having 50 points (27g, 23a) on 52 games.
